These are the types of questions you should expect on the day of your H-1B visa interview. This is only a guide for informational purposes and must not be relied upon. The Consular officer may ask you different questions from the ones listed here and/or may ask the questions in a different way. Some of the sample questions provided here may not apply to you at all. You must be honest in all your answers. Never lie to an immigration officer or other Government official. Serious consequences attach to fraud and/or misrepresentation. If you don’t know the answer to a question, tell the officer you don’t know the answer. If you don't understand the question, ask the officer to clarify their question. Take your time, be confident, be polite, and provide answers only to the questions asked. Draft answers to the following questions in your preparation for the interview to help you become familiar with the types of questions you will be asked and to collect your thoughts.   1. Where is the university located?

  1. When did you graduate?

  1. Are you licensed to practice your profession in the State you will be working in?

  1. When were you first licensed?

  1. Were you in status when you previously applied for a change of status?

  1. What were you doing in the US after you graduated?

  1. Have you ever overstayed your authorized period of stay in the US?

  1. Why was your change of status denied?

  1. Why was your visa denied?

  1. Has USCIS or an Immigration Judge ever determined that you violated your status in the US?

  1. How do you know this company is real?

  1. When was the company founded? How long has the company been in existence?

  1. Where will you work in the US?

  1. How long has the company had the office location at which you will work from in the US?

  1. When do you intend to travel to the US?

  1. Where will you stay in the US?

  1. How will you support yourself in the first month before you get paid?

  1. Where is the head-office/headquarters of the company located?

  1. Who will you report to within the company?

  1. Has the company ever sponsored anyone on H-1B before?

  1. What is your area of specialty?

  1. Will you be working at a new office?

  1. Does the company have any plans to expand into any other cities?

  1. What type of business is your employer?

  1. Where are you currently staying?

  1. Have you ever been arrested, anywhere in the world? If so, where and for what?

  1. Have you ever been convicted of any crimes anywhere in the world? If so, where and for what?

  1. Is this new employment?

  1. Have you ever been deported or removed from the United States?
