P-1B Member of an Internationally Recognized Entertainment Group

Who May Qualify for P-1B

A P-1B is a nonimmigrant classification for a member of an entertainment group that has been recognized internationally as outstanding in their discipline for a sustained and substantial period of time. The reputation of the group as a whole matters here, and not the standalone achievements and acclaim of individual members of the group.

P-1B Support Staff May Obtain P-1 Status

As with P-1A athletes, essential support personnel who are integral to the performance of the principal P-1B, and who’s role cannot be readily performed by a U.S. worker, may seek their own P-1 status. Essential support personnel for a P-1B may include, but are not limited to, stage persons, camera persons, and light techs.

Spouse and Minor Children of a P-1B May Seek Dependent Status

Dependent spouse and children of a P-1B may obtain P-4 status; however, dependents are not employment authorized, but they may choose to study while in the United States.
